RegioJet plans new service to Budapest for 2020

Central European open-access train operator RegioJet has announced plans to add Budapest to its list of destinations.

From 2020, two trains a day are planned to operate on the route Prague – Brno – Vienna – Budapest as an extension of the existing Prague – Vienna train services.

RegioJet will be collaborating with Continental Railway Solution in Hungary and WESTbahn in Austria to deliver the new service. However, customer service will be RegioJet’s responsibility for the whole journey, with no changes at the borders.

Passengers will be able to purchase refreshments from the RegioJet on-board menu – including sushi, salads, snacks, cakes and other items.

RegioJet general manager Ivana Kašická said: “Our policy is to be the best value for money for passengers on rails. For example, on Prague – Vienna line, we have proven that it is possible to bring much higher quality of service on trains for much lower prices in comparison to the traditional train operators.”

Besides the connections between the Czech Republic and Hungary, the new RegioJet service will offer better connections between the two Danube capitals of Vienna and Budapest.
